[SOLVED] Noto Sans looks wrong when installed through pacman

Greetings, since I switched back from Plasma to Xfce Noto Sans hasn't been rendering properly

I've tried reinstalling noto-fonts, even deleting the downloaded files, reinstalling XFCE, deleting all files in /etc/fonts/ and reinstalling fontconfig, deleting global and local fontconfig cache and I've even checked that ~/.config/gtk-2.0 and ~/.config/gtk-3.0 don't affect the font settings. I managed to get it to work by removing the noto-fonts package and installing the fonts manually in /usr/share/fonts/TTF, while the noto-fonts installed through pacman are located in /usr/share/fonts/noto. I think that it is not recognizing the conf.d files in /etc/fonts that the noto-sans package uses to specify that the fonts in /usr/share/fonts/noto are TTF.
Is there some other configuration file I'm missing that is causing this?

That's noto, but bad hinting.

Could be the cleartype change?

Setting the hinting to Slight did the trick.
