takes long to poweroff

my laptop taking considerable amount of time to shutdown from a fews days. Why?
my laptop is x86_64 i5 dell, ram = 8gb

If you aren't using gnome, clarify what you are actually using and post a journal from a failing shutdown (e.g.

sudo journalctl -b-1

after such a reboot)
