install/enable/update source code mimetype icons

Hi,
I recently switched from Ubuntu GNOME to Arch + XFCE. I've been liking it pretty well, but one thing that has bugged me is that in the Thunar file browser my source code files all have the same text-file icon. With nautilus in GNOME for example I was used to having all my C files displayed with a big blue 'C', header files with a burgundy 'H', python files with the python logo, and CMake and Makefiles with a quaint hammer.
Do I need to install another icon theme package? Currently I have the adwatia-icon-theme and hicolor-icon-theme packages installed. Previously I had the gnome-icon-theme, but that didn't make a difference.
I have bumped into various places on the internet talking about regenerating the browser cache, but none of those worked for me. I believe I could manually make an icon for each mimetype, but that sounds rather time consuming.

I see those .h, .c etc. icons here. My icon theme is "Papirus" from the package "papirus-icon-theme".

I just tried switching to Adwaita icon theme and the .c, .h disappeared so I guess there's no need to tweak anything else to get things to work besides choosing the icon theme.

If you care for the technicalities, you need an icon theme that actually ships icons for the different mimetypes you care about, and if we compare adwaita

that should help you know what to look for, if you don't want to blindly install stuff check the package content list on the packaging site.

Thanks! After installing the papirus-icon-theme or breeze-icons and deleting everything in ~/.cache/thumbnails/normal it did display them all with different icons.
