So I've seen other posts from the past where people were getting PackageKit and other errors when trying to run Discover, and the solution was to install packagekit-qt5.
Well, I've had packagekit-qt5 installed since I first installed Discover months ago, and even tried reinstalling both, and it still definitely does not work.
I get errors such as:
Failed to activate service 'org.freedesktop.PackageKit': timed out (service_start_timeout=25000ms)
And under "Installed" I only see Plasma addons I've installed through the KDE System Settings. So a whole bunch of mess is going on.
System is fully updated, things like pamac, yay, etc. work fine, installing Plasma Add-ons through the KDE System Settings (like the "Get New Themes" button) works fine, etc. packagekit-qt5 is installed, all optdepends are installed.
discover 5.20.4-1
packagekit-qt5 1.0.2-1

Did you install the fwupd package, as well?

I hope I can help you out with your Arch issues and get myself helped out, as well.

Yeah, it was installed long before discover ever was. All optdepends are installed.

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
(A works at time B) && (time C > time B ) ≠ (A works at time C)

I've resolved this today on my own system. It appears I had to remove the HookDir directive in /etc/pacman.conf. I hope this helps...
