Hi, I have followed instructions to install steam and troubleshooted a small problem. it works. I can login.
But, there are few confusion points on my side:
1. steam location and start script is`$HOME/.steam/steamcmd/steamcmd.sh`, not `.local/share/Steam/` as listed in wiki here: <https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Steam>
2. when I start `steamcmd` I get console prompt instead of steam UI. It seems it is expected, but it also seems that others imply UI works. I am even able to login using command line, but then I kind of get stuck not knowing how to get to UI.
I have not installed anything under "Flatpak" instructions from https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Steam link, because it implied that it is an alternative installation.
My goal is to get UI running.
Thank you

You do know that you are not using Steam right? You are using SteamCMD, which is the CLI version of Steam. Enable multilib and install Steam through pacman.

Thank you, I followed your recommendation and installed Steam.
Do I still need steamcmd to run Steam?

not necessarily no.

SteamCMD is just a command line version of steam there is no UI for you to have a UI you must go into the /etc/pacman.conf and uncomment the multilib and run pacman -Sy then pacman -S steam! Make sure you choose the correct GPU drivers as well!
