Potential iwd bug or my low iq?

Came back to arch after getting a laptop. Last couple times I've ever installed it was on desktop and had ethernet connection so connecting to wifi through iwd was new to me and idk if I'm having a problem with it or its a potential bug/limitation.

When in iwd I can find my wifi device.
Use it to scan for connections.
And even see my home wifi that I'm attempting to connect to.

Connecting to it seems to be the problem. I followed the iwd wiki page and used the following:

 [iwd]# station device connect SSID

Here's my problem. My SSID has an apostrophe and I think it is preventing me from connecting.
When I try, it responds with "Invalid command"
I've also tried putting my SSID in double quotes as it says for SSID's with spaces but it still doesn't work.
I've even tried connecting to a neighbors wifi and it succeeds with the same command and takes me to the prompt for the password.

I have no clue what the problem is and searched all over for this but couldn't find anything similar.

Re: Potential iwd bug or my low iq?

Welcome back to arch.
The solution is to surround the SSID with double quotes. For example:

[iwd]# station wlan0 connect "strange'ssid"

Re: Potential iwd bug or my low iq?

Thanks for the speedy response.
I actually tried this and receive an "Operation not supported" error.

iwd is even tab autocompleting, even the SSID, so I don't see how it could be anything like a typo.

Does it work w/ the iwctl variant?

$ iwctl station wlan0 connect "S'SID"

Re: Potential iwd bug or my low iq?

It is possible to create the configuration file manually — it should be at /var/lib/iwd/strange'ssid.psk with this content:

[Security]
PreSharedKey=$key

Replace "strange'ssid" with the actual name of the SSID and replace "$key" with the hashed combination of the SSID and password[0], for example:

wpa_passphrase "strange'ssid" password | awk -F"=" '/\tpsk/{print $2}'

Or use http://jorisvr.nl/wpapsk.html
