System freeze when doing suspend after turning graphics card off

Systemctl suspend usually works on my Dell Inspiron 7590 Laptop.
When I'm not at home I often turn off my nvidia graphics card (GTX 1650 Mobile) using an acpi call as described in https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Hy … screte_GPU.
This works as my power consumption drops and nvidia-smi also doesn't detect any gpu.
However, suspend won't work in this state: The system freezes showing my login screen (sddm). I cannot access any virtual console as well.
I've tried to turn on the graphics card using the same acpi unit in order to be able to suspend the system - but the gpu won't turn on.
I'm using a prime offload setup with intel and nvidia drivers.

Thanks.
