microphone not found/not working on arch [solved]

I am quite new on Arch and i m running it on a late 2014 macbook air. when i run applications like skype, the microphone can't be found, nor it seems to be set up on settings. What can i do?

Though the forum post that wiki page it is referencing is a bit outdated. When you open pavucontrol (the volume mixer for pulse audio) do you see any devices listed under the input devices tab.

in pavucontrol, under the input devices i only see "Monitor of  intern audio"

The first command needs alsa-utils to be installed but the problem is visible from here:

pacmd set-card-profile alsa_card.pci-0000_00_1b.0 output:analog-stereo+input:analog-stereo

... or look into the "Configuration" tab of pavucontrol. That should give you a pulse visible input device.

on the configuration page i see "Intern Audio profile: off" and another "Intern Audio profile: output <<analog stereo>>"

Yes and the output analog stereo should be changeable to output:analog-stereo+input:analog-stereo and that should give you an input device in the recording tab/general pulseaudio
