[SOLVED] Issues with framerate after suspend (Budgie DE)

Since switching to Budgie DE (from Pantheon), I have intermittent issues with framerate drops after suspend. Turning off window animations helps but doesn't completely solve the issue. It also only seems to happen after my computer has been suspended for an hour+ (short suspends of a few minutes seem to be fine?) It may or may not be the cause but after I installed Budgie (budgie-desktop) I got a WSOD "Oh no! Something has gone wrong." This was 'resolved' by installing mutter in addition to the mutter6 pulled in by budgie-desktop. I also have budgie-extras installed.
