[solved] i3 with plasma, meta key not working properly

I am a long time i3 user. I decided to try i3 with plasma.

my config is meta(windows key)+return to launch termite. however, when I press meta, I get an 's" character in the terminal window.

I am using a US keyboard layout.

Post output of i3 config file from your local user directory ( .config/i3/config ).
