Graphical Glitches after update (NVIDIA card)

After updating my machine I have had some issues with graphical glitches, they are black bars that flash across my screen once every few seconds. I have noticed that they seem to appear most often when using chrome but I have no idea if there is any correlation.

lspci -v | grep -A1 -e VGA -e 3D

02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation C79 [GeForce 9400M] (rev b1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
        Subsystem: Apple Inc. Device 00b9

I'm running on a very old MacBook so I wouldn't be surprised if the graphics card was struggling by now. However, I hadn't seen this before updating.

pacman -Qs xf86

 local/libxxf86vm 1.1.4-4
X11 XFree86 video mode extension library

local/xf86-input-synaptics 1.9.1-2 (xorg-drivers)
    Synaptics driver for notebook touchpads

    X.org VMWare Mouse input driver
local/xf86-input-void 1.4.1-5 (xorg-drivers)
    X.org void input driver
local/xf86-video-dummy 0.3.8-4 (xorg-drivers)
    X.org dummy video driver
local/xf86-video-fbdev 0.5.0-2 (xorg-drivers)
    X.org framebuffer video driver
local/xf86-video-nouveau 1.0.16-2 (xorg-drivers)
Open Source 3D acceleration driver for nVidia cards
local/xf86-video-openchrome 0.6.0-4 (xorg-drivers)
    X.Org Openchrome drivers
local/xf86-video-qxl 0.1.5.r16.g52c421c-1 (xorg-drivers)
    Xorg X11 qxl video driver
local/xf86-video-vesa 2.5.0-1 (xorg-drivers xorg)
    X.org vesa video driver
local/xf86-video-vmware 13.3.0-2 (xorg-drivers)
    X.org vmware video driver
local/xf86-video-voodoo 1.2.5-11 (xorg-drivers)
    X.org 3dfx Voodoo1/Voodoo2 2D video driver

Just any kind of pointers in the right direction to solve this would be very helpful, thanks

Re: Graphical Glitches after update (NVIDIA card)

Hi, which bit are you referring to? The 'unsupported drivers' part?
Thanks for the help

Re: Graphical Glitches after update (NVIDIA card)

What kernel module is the Nvidia GPU using:

lspci -nnk | grep -A3 -e VGA -e 3D

Why do you have all those X drivers installed?
Edit:
What was in the update that triggered the issue?

Also the contents of Xorg.log and the output of dmesg.

Re: Graphical Glitches after update (NVIDIA card)

The lspci show the nouveau drive is in use and Xorg.log shows xf86-video-nouveau in use so I would remove all the other xf86 video drivers as you mentioned.
You need to keep at least one of xf86-input-evdev xf86-input-libinput xf86-input-synaptics for input.

The system was under load and could not process event fast enough.  If there were lots of such messages it might be related.

/var/log/pacman.log contains what exactly was updated.  If the kernel, X,  and chrome from AUR were all updated for instance they could all have caused the issue.
