Is there a process to handle out-of-date packages?

When a package does not get updated you can flag it out-of-date. What exactly does this do? Just email the maintainer? What can I do when the maintainer does not respond (email)?

There is a todo list but it has no search - so I'm not sure if it's on there. https://archlinux.org/todo/

The wiki mentions the AUR but has nothing on the official repos AFAIK.

What you should do is figure out who flagged it out of date on October 9th and get them to pull their head out of their ass. The packages in question are now out of date, but they weren't at the time they were flagged. So whatever moron flagged them should be publicly humiliated as they, and others like them, are precisely the reason why the "out of date" flag on packages is almost completely useless for this community.

As for what you can do at the moment, feel free to build it yourself. The PKGBUILD is right there for you.

At the time, it was flagged OOD with the message "SDK 3.1.402 has been released on 2020-09-08."

Which is, um, inspiring.

Current version: v3.1.108-SDK

Four days after this flag message, new released version: v3.1.109-SDK

I wasn't really asking about this specific package though it is what brought me here. Maybe it's because of the name change from dotnet core to dotnet 5 ... maybe the maintainer has no time - I don't know.

This thing is out of date and I was wondering how to fix this for everyone and not just for me.

@laktak if you have a working PKGBUILD for dotnet 5 you could email a link to it to the maintainer. I tried building v5.0.102-SDK but it failed compiling native code.

@loqs the maintainer did not respond.

I just used the aur/dotnet-sdk-bin package - it's a bit strange to install but it does work if you always accept the defaults.

dotnet-sdk-bin does not build anything, alucryd is probably still stuck with the issue I linked to.
