I have been having this issue for the last month or so but I have not bothered to fix it because it randomly fixes itself. When I restart my computer, the colors are sometimes completely off and the screen is full of lines. It is not an xorg issue because when I ctrl+alt+f2 I still get the same weird colors.
Up until now, if I reboot the computer a few times it fixes itself but it is getting increasingly worse (I have to reboot it more times to get it to work, so I am just worried one day it just won't fix itself by rebooting)
This is what it should look like.
And this is the bug.
My problem seems similar to this question but upon reading the article on Variable Refresh Rates I noticed it is not supported on my graphics card (Intel) so I don't think that is the issue.
I tried reinstalling xorg-server and it didn't really do anything. Would really appreciate any help. Thank you ![]()

I Have Never Faced This Problem, But Still Here is What You Can Try ( Not sure Whether This Will Help You)....
1) Try Disabling The Compositor (GNOME):- create a file in /etc/profile.d/script.sh(Name It this) and Inside The File Type {export CLUTTER_VBLANK=none} (Remove These Curly braces).
In KDE (Which I Use), There Is An Option In Settings "Compositor" ---Just Disable It.
2) Also Try Reducing Your framerate by Opening Terminal And Type:
gedit ~/.config/monitors.xml
And Edit The Line : <rate>60.1690864562988</rate> to something like <rate>59.96</rate>
3) Now If This Also Didn't Worked then Maybe It Might Be Kernel Problem (Maybe) Go Through This:

I See That You Are Using A Window Manager (i3 is it?)....well just do search on how to Disable Compositor, reduce Framerate etc...in your Window Manager
I Am a Nobody, When It Comes To Window Manager(s)...

The issue in this topic sounds exactly the same as yours.

This seems to be working, thanks a lot! Will mark it as solved if I don't face any problems in the next few days.
