Is it normal for the memory usage to be around ~240MB on a fresh install in the tty ? The packages being used were simply

I also made sure not to monitor cached files, by doing a simple
findon another drive. The reported cache was bigger, but not the memory reading, so this isn't a "linuxatemyram.com"
What got me worried is that on other hardwares, the same configuration has a footprint of ~100MB, and all of it can be attributed to the running processes.

This is completely normal for a 16GiB machine, use ps_mem to see a full breakdown (it will give a lower figure). On my 16GiB system even a musl libc distribution still hovers around 140MiB used at the bare console. OpenBSD is significantly lighter if that's what you want — I see under 100MiB at the graphical desktop (dwm) for that operating system on the same hardware
