Media Hard Drive, interchangeable windows & linux??!?

So I was wondering, whether it was possible to format a hard drive in a way that I can use it from a Linux system AND a windows 10 system interchangeably? (e.g. a media HDD)

Yep, you just need to choose a filesystem that's supported by both OS's.

NTFS and exFAT are a couple that spring to mind.

Is there one that you can particularly recommend for such use?

I think NTFS has a 4 GB limit per file, at least this was the case in the past at some point, not sure if it's still there.

I'd go with exfat! It has no such limit effectively.

On arch you will need to install exfat-utils I guess.

If you are ok with a 4 GB file size limit, I'd still recommend FAT32 over NTFS because you are less likely to run into troubles on Linux such as dirty-flagged volumes and stuff that require some extra ntfs-related tools to handle.

No, NTFS does not have a 4 GB file size limit.

If you are planning on having many small files in each directory (this is my case where, for work reasons, I need to deal with a lot of data chunks) do NOT pick FAT32 as it has a maximum number of files per directory of only 2^16=65536.
