[SOLVED] Question About New Hard Drive - Partition Types

I have a question about all the different partition types that you're offered from fdisk (Linux filesystem, Linux Home, Linux Swap, Linux x86_64).  I can easily get all the main drives setup like SWAP and root but I'm not sure what partition type I should select for new hard drives that aren't related to the Linux system at all.

Like let's say that I create a new folder in my home directory called "Games" and I wanted to mount my new hard drive to it. When creating the partitions on my hard drive, what type should I choose? When looking at the partitioning wiki page, it doesn't give much information about all the different partitions. I have a feeling it's "Linux Filesystem" but I just want to confirm if it's that or something else.

Re: [SOLVED] Question About New Hard Drive - Partition Types

It is not all that important, but yes, linux partitions would be what I would use.  The only time it really matters is for uEFI boot volumes, which should be vfat

More importantly, what type of partition table are you using?  I suggest strongly GPT and not MBR.

I'm using GPT, yeah. I understand how partitioning works and what file systems should be used. I'm just talking about which one of these to use when selecting a partition type for just a folder for regular storage in the home directory: Partition Tables

'Linux filesystem data' unless you want to use systemd-gpt-auto-generator for /home.
