[Solved] systemd-udevd using all CPU

Similar to post from 2017 here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=232890

Have a clean install of Arch on my Dell XPS running XMonad (also tested with DWM), system will boot and systemd-udevd will immediately spike one of my cpu cores to 100% usage and will keep running in the background indefinitely. I don' know what is causing this, but according to the post above, it was a kernel issue; however since that post is three years old I believe that should have been resolved by now.

Output of journalctl | grep 'systemd-udevd'

Re: [Solved] systemd-udevd using all CPU

Do you have any custom udev rules trying to do things here? Something constantly tries to call ethtool and alsactl restore. Some power saving daemon, laptop-mode-tools or TLP or so?  What's your ethernet driver, do you see anything in the kernel log regarding this (i.e

sudo dmesg

)

I have TLP setup, but that was just an install and then enabled through systemctl enable tlp.service. I don't think it would be an issue. I also didn't see anything in dmesg, here is the output:

Update: I was looking at other posts similar to this and some suggested disabling bluetooth, but even that showed no change.

Re: [Solved] systemd-udevd using all CPU

Found the solution after digging around my system. In order to disable the Nvidia GPU in my laptop, I followed this guide: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Hy … _acpi_call. However, my mistake was that I both added the kernel module to turn off the GPU and the systemd call. I believe these two were interfering with each other because after I removed the systemd call, the hungry process completely disappeared.
