[Solved] Firefox Character Display

Hi, I'm having trouble getting my Firefox installation to display certain characters.
Here is how my installation displays certain characters:
FluxBB bbcode ff
Here is the same page from a windows install:
FluxBB bbcode ff
I've tried disabling uMatrix and uBlock Origin and installing ttf-ms-fonts and xorg-fonts-misc.
I've also made sure the option "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of your selections above" is enabled.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Re: [Solved] Firefox Character Display

These are emojis, not normal fonts/characters. And it looks like these are custom code points that aren't part of the official standard what website is this and if you actually check does that really use a font from the system rather than one from the website?

That particular site is https://fancytext.blogspot.com/
The problem does however also occur on f.x. this pastebin: https://pastebin.com/27utBz0W
I'm not sure how I'd actually check something like that.

Re: [Solved] Firefox Character Display

Both want to end up on a monospace font in the end. Make sure you install a monospace font, maybe directly install one of the families that are known to have good coverage: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fonts#Families

DejaVu is often a good baseline, I personally use the noto fonts for most purposes.

0870 to 0890 are unallocated.  [1] 086B to 086F are allocated but unused [2].

Re: [Solved] Firefox Character Display

Tried switching to the DejaVu font but it doesn't seem to have changed much.

Re: [Solved] Firefox Character Display

I tried disabling the option "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of your selections above" and using the DejaVu font and the problem seems to have dissapeared.
