Since I updated to plasma-desktop 5.12.0-1, a long keypress is only registered as one keypress.
For example, if I press "j" for 2 seconds, I only get one "j" in the output as opposed to something like "jjjjjjjjj...".
This is completely independent of the application I try to type in and also occurs on "special keys" like backspace, for example.
If I try to type in a tty, everything works normally, so I believe, that this is in fact a plasma problem.
Is anyone else facing this problem?

Yes. Same problem here after upgrading.
For the time being you can fix it with `xset r rate 500 25` but I don't know if it persists throughout reboots.
EDIT: Does not persist through reboot. But for the time being I'm okay with this "fix". Hopefully it gets resolved with system upgrade or something.

System Settings > Input devices > Keyboard, for some reason it's set to Do Nothing when key is being held, turn it on again to restore previous behaviour.
