[solved] Lightdm shows a black screen when booting

I have just re-installed arch on my Lenovo X1 carbon 4th gen.
I first tried to install lightdm alone, without greeter, configured to auto login my user using i3. I noticed the system booted correctly and started i3 with my user but with a black screen. I could interact with i3 and launch applications but I could not see anything. I had to switch to a TTY and then come back to the graphical environment to actually see what I was doing.
I thought maybe lightdm needs a greeter so I tried with lightdm-gtk-greeter and got the same result. I then tried with lightdm-slick-greeter and still have the same result.
When I restart lightdm with systemctl then it works as expected, the issue only happens after boot.
I have read other similar threads but could not find the exact same issue, and none of the solutions worked for me.

Any idea is welcome.

solved it.
I thought I had read that wiki already, sorry for the noise.
