Window manager lags and freezes after nvidia driver install

Hello

I've spent a couple of days trying to get nvidia drivers working on my desktop and yesterday I managed to get them loaded. Now after the installation, whenever I move or resize windows in bspwm it's incredibly laggy and stutters. At times the computer can freeze up. Windows also tend to flicker when resizing windows in tiling mode.

Using nvtop, the alacritty process in particular takes up a great deal of CPU %. However, using other software that takes up 100% of the CPU usage in the GPU doesn't seem to change the behavior or making it worse.

I followed the wiki to install the nvidia drivers but noticed yesterday that there were no nvidia module loaded so I updated the kernel header and then installed the drivers again and this seemed to make it work. I'm not using a xorg.conf file but I also tried using the one that nvidia-xconfig supplied and nothing changed. Right before making this post I uninstalled the nvidia package and used the driver from nvidias page instead to install it.

$ uname -a
Linux zeuph 5.10.16-arch1-1

$ pacman -Q linux
linux 5.10.16.arch1-1

Here's my Xorg.0.log
