I am hoping to use distcc since I have a older dual core laptop and wish to be able to compile stuff from the aur faster.

I can run straight
make all -j32 CC=distcc CXX=distccit runs fine but if I try to use makepkg I get this
distcc[249829] (dcc_r_result_header) ERROR: server provided no answer. Is the server configured to allow access from your IP address? Is the server performing authentication and your client isn't? Does the server have the compiler installed? Is the server configured to access the compiler?
distcc[249829] Warning: failed to distribute scripts/mod/devicetable-offsets.c to 192.168.1.119/32, running locally insteadI am lost as to why makepkg doesn't work but make does.

192.168.1.119 is the ip-address of your volunteer server that you want to use for compiling ?
Does it run distccd.service ? please post /etc/conf.d/distccd from the volunteer.
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

Firstly, follow this wiki article. Your DISTCC_HOSTS= is not right/you did not include localhost.

I applied
sed -i '/HAVE_GCC_PLUGINS/d' arch/x86/Kconfigto the kernel.
Isn't localhost a optional thing depending on what you are trying to do?
