KDE on Microsoft Surface Pro 7

I inherited a Surface Pro 7 and have installed KDE on it following instructions from:

https://github.com/linux-surface/linux-surface

It works OK but have a couple of bugbears both down to very small appearance

1) The SDDM login screen is very small to be almost unreadable

2) and in the same vein libreoffice  is also very small.

Gave gnome a run and both the GDM screen and libreoffice looks fine. So looks like a setting somewhere but cant find it.

In some searches there is mention of "Force Fonts DPI" to 192. However I dont have this option in my system settings. Again guessing I need to install another package to get this.

Re: KDE on Microsoft Surface Pro 7

You probably want to generally read through https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/HiDPI and more specifically https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/HiDPI#KDE_Plasma

For SDDM You can set EnableHiDPI=true in the [X11] section of /etc/sddm.conf (if the file doesn't exist yet, copy over the template from /usr/lib/sddm/sddm.conf.d/default.conf)

Just tried that for SDDM and it made no difference.

I'd had a look at the arch wikki page before. Its currently set at 200% and everything is fine. If I change this everything gets bigger when I only have a problem with libreoffice being too small. Same with the Icons > Advance settings. This changes everything when everything is fine except libreoffice

Also in System Settings > Appearance > Fonts I dont have the option to "Force Font DPI"

Re: KDE on Microsoft Surface Pro 7

I can't help you with libreoffice since I don't use it but I may have a possible fix for your sddm login screen since I had the same issue. I'm not 100% sure if enabling HiDPI support is necessary for this but it's probably not a bad idea.
What worked for me is actually just changing the sddm login theme (can be done in system settings) to one that works well with HiDPI displays (it seems most don't like HiDPI). My suggestion would be this  https://store.kde.org/p/1312658/ but you can play around with others if you like.
Also maybe tweak the user configuration file in the theme's folder to make it suit your taste.
