[SOLVED] ThinkStation P620 crashes on install

I'm trying to install Arch -- using a USB flashed with archlinux-2021.02.01-x86_64.iso -- on a ThinkStation P620. I've gone through the process a handful of times and am finding that the machine crashes before I can get appreciably through the process. Out of five attempts three have happened once I'm in the chroot and running pacstrap, the other two prior to this step. I've got the disk partitioned with an ESP for boot, swap and then ext4 for root, though given that the crash has happened prior to mounting disks I don't know if that's relevant.

My hardware:

Processor : AMD Ryzen™ Threadripper™ Pro 3955WX Processor (3.90 GHz, up to 4.30 GHz Max Boost, 16 Cores, 32 Threads, 8 MB Cache)
Motherboard : MB AMD Castle Peak
    Memory : Quantity 8 x 16 GB DDR4 3200MHz RDIMM ECC
    Memory Qty : 8
    First Video Adapter : NVIDIA® Quadro® P620 2GB
First Onboard M.2 SSD : 512 GB M.2 Gen 3 PCIe SSD, OPAL
Storage Controller Adapter : AMD Integrated Controller
    Ethernet Adapter : Integrated Ethernet
    WiFi Wireless LAN Adapter : Intel® 9260 802.11AC (2 x 2) & Bluetooth® 5.1
    Audio Card : Integrated Audio
    Power Supply : Tower WRX80 92% Power 1000W

Just to confirm that the hardware isn't damaged by shipping I have been able to install Debian Stable on this machine and it runs fine. This is the first time I'm having to collect crash info from Arch install media so if anyone has thoughts on the best way to go about debugging this I'm all ears.

When you did the Debian install, was the USB stick booted in UEFI mode? If so, that could rule out your system taking issue with UEFI. If not, then you could try doing the Debian install in UEFI and if it crashes during that you would have some insight to the problem.

Was the archlinux iso checksummed or verified before written to usb?

Good question. Yes, the Debian install was booted in UEFI mode. Same USB stick too.

There's a thought. I thought so when I initially downloaded it, but I'll repeat the process being sure to checksum the ISO this time for sure. Will report back.

This was fruitful. I made sure to verify the checksum of my original ISO and it did indeed differ. I downloaded the ISO again and am now writing from the machine in question.
