Only HDMI output has sound in my case. The meainng of here is a output is determined by observing the volume meter. The meter bar will swing dpends on the sound.
This happens really suddenlly. My USB DAC works really well yesterday, but not work after FS broke.
I also have tried reinstall alas and pluseaudio package multiple time and downgrade recent nvidia packages and kwin, but nothing changes. Haven't change anything on /etc/pulse ~/.config/pulse

It looks like your default card is set to HDMI.
Are you able to play a sound into your DAC via ALSA alone without pulseaudio, i.e. speaker-test -c 2?

Only sounds on HDMI. Is there anyway to configure?
Edited: On AlsaMixer, F6 to DAC, it shows This sound device does not have any controls

Without pulseaudio running, what is the output of speaker-test -c 2?
killall pulseaudio
speaker-test -c 2
Also if you may post /etc/asound.conf or ~/.asoundrc whichever is significant.

I have tried those but did not work. And I don't have those files in local anyway and my DAC still works run out of the box. So that makes me curious should I set up config somehow?
My issue is temporarily solved by downgraded all my package back to 2/22/2021

I believe there is something wrong with those packages. I don't have time to figure out which one. I believe is Nvidia(Sry, I can't find the sauce that inspired me that could be Nvidia driver manipulate its HDMI output (overwrite or be redirected) other audio)
One lesson I learn is avoid to reduce update frequency on the Nvidia package. If possible mount a second AMDGPU Exclusive for Linux may be making life EZ. I think except for FileSystem corruption, most of the time my system is broken can be indirectly caused by the Nvidia-related package.
For example, one Nvidia update(can't recall which version, but just recall one around October 2020) stopped me from boot into DE at the same time I have installed bumblebee. After removing bumblebee, my system worked again.
Edit: Typo

I have tried those but did not work.
I asked for the output of the command and not if it works or not. What is the output of the speaker test?
We are trying to establish if ALSA is able to find and recognise the DAC.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ad … chitecture.
The DAC uses the usb interface so I don't think it has anything to do with Nvidia but the HDMI from Nvidia seems to be stealing the show.

Sorry for misunderstanding your intention. Here it is
speaker-test -c 2
speaker-test 1.2.4
Playback device is default
Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 2 channels
Using 16 octaves of pink noise
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1075:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
Playback open error: -16,Device or resource busy
Offline
Update: Tried to use the NVIDIA DKMS package instead of NVIDIA. I have downgraded NVIDIA DKMS with Linux-5.11.2 arch1-1, the issue is still there. Hence I believe there is something inside the latest kernel.
Update2: Latest NVIDIA DKMS does not interrupt USB-AUDIO output.
Thanks

Can you try running the speaker test (without pulseaudio as before) specifying your USB sound card and post the output again please:
speaker-test -D default=WALKMAN -c 2
Also can you please post the outputs of:

ALSA lib pcm.c:2660:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM default=WALKMAN
Playback open error: -2,No such file or directory
ALSA can't see the DAC. WALKMAN is probably wrong argument. Can you please post again the output of
aplay -L | grep CARD
Modules are all there but
cat /proc/asound/modules
0 snd_hda_intel
1 snd_hda_intel
2 snd_usb_audio
3 snd_usb_audio
snd_usb_audio needs to be at index 0. You can find the fix here.
Also I noticed this output from your first post:
usbstream:CARD=NVidia
HDA NVidia
USB Stream Output
This bothers me a bit. Why is the usbstream card in Nvidia?
Then you might as well add the output of lsusb.
Offline
Not really all of the outputs so far are generally normal and expected (... afaik all IEC/digital cards get an usbstream node) and that you don't have to inherently care about the ALSA index is one of the reasons to use pulseaudio for. In the original output no attempt at playing at the relevant USB DAC is made, maybe repost
pacmd list-sinks
pacmd list-sink-inputs
during an active playback attempt again. I'd find it more likely that there's a regression in snd_usb_audio and the 5.11 kernel and this particular DAC than trying to stick the blame on nvidia as nvidia doesn't really have an interaction here (... other than potential device detection auto-sink switch shenanigans but that's a linux/pulse detection issue with no inherent relevance to nvidia and will happen on intel/amd just the same)
FWIW from where I'm standing the underlying issue here is that nvidia got switched to as the default device (... can happen when module-switch-on-connect is loaded without a blacklist argument) and the fix would be a simple change back to the USB DAC as the default and switching any applications still trying to play back to the nvidia card (... check pavucontrol)

Could this be the problem?

Should generally not be an issue unless incompatible passthrough types are selected, which should be none by default. But one could try to change this to the analog device to rule out whether it's an issue with the SPDIF integration. FWIW this does look like I'd expect it to in these outputs as well, do you see any errors with the usb_audio module in dmesg?

my external USB audio card doesn't work as well with the current kernel (5.11.2-zen1-1-zen), but when I reboot to the lts (5.10.19-1-lts) it starts working again

Can I know what kind of information I should expect?
And Analog output does not out put any sound either

I think this is worth a try. I went back to the ALSA page and in Additional Notes it was mentioned:
Some cards need to have digital output muted or disabled in order to hear analog sound. For the Soundblaster Audigy LS mute the channel labeled IEC958.
I know it's not the same card but this DAC might just be one of those that needs the digital muted.
And Analog output does not out put any sound either
How are you accessing the analog port with the DAC?

Sorry for the late reply. Just simply change the option(profile) on the audio setting in KDE.
--- End of reply ------
I just the see a new update on pipewire package. pipewire-pulse will gonna replace pulseaudio. I don't know whether this update will gonna fix my issue. I will update the info later this week.

If speaker-test on the device didn't work then that's unlikely
Offline
I'd find it more likely that there's a regression in snd_usb_audio and the 5.11 kernel
It's probably best to aim to get sound output from ALSA alone before adding pulse.
@Tobknight
I would suggest creating /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf :
options snd_usb_audio index=0
options snd_hda_intel index=1,2
This sets the default card.
Reboot and post the output again of cat /proc/asound/modules

Hi, Sorry for the late reply. Currently, I am on 5.11.4-arch1-1.
cat /proc/asound/modules
0 snd_usb_audio
1 snd_hda_intel
2 snd_hda_intel
3 snd_usb_audio
There is still no sound output from the USB device but the HDMI works well after setting up.

Now that the default card is set, could you post the output again of:
killall pulseaudio
speaker-test -c 2
Offline
i'm facing a similar issue:
got one F(*) USB DAC(1) and one S(*) USB DAC(2) and default HDMI output(3)
1) and 3) works perfectly but 2) has output without sound.
tested 2) with
speaker-test -D iec958:(2) -c 2 -r 192000
could see DAC got the stream and changed rate, but no sound could be heared.

If you see it physically on the DAC that it receives the signal then the issue is out of linux's control. Check your cables/physical volumes.
