Cannot go beyond 640X480 resolution

I set up Arch on quite a few machines so far, but now I am having a real hard time getting xorg.conf to work.  I have an on board video card described as follow by hwd -s :
     Driver xf86-video-vesa
which is installed.
I generated the xorg.conf file with hwd -xa and tried all kind of settings based on other installations I have on other machines.

I then gave up by installing Suse on the machine in question, which in turn gave me reasonable resolution.  But I wanted to have Arch !!  So I took the xorg.conf file generated through Suse, re-installed Arch and used that famous file.  That did not work, I was back to square one.

Can someone telle me what I am doing wrong ??

Gnaaaaa  Solved my problem.

BIOS problem.  I had to increase the memory allocated.  The setting in the BIOS was ridiculously low :-D
