Hello, I have a Razer Blade 2020 model laptop with a 4k display and Nvidia 2070 Max-Q graphics card. I have the proprietary Nvidia driver installed and active. Everything on my display is too small to comfortably look at. Some DEs have scaling options that work, but I would much prefer to use a WM. I tried using fractional scaling with xrandr but it made everything every blurry and cut off part of the screen, I also tried setting the DPI with xrandr but the change never takes effect. What would be the best way to scale the screen to an acceptable size without lowering my resolution?

Depends a lot on the programs and the toolkits in use.

Provides a good general overview you should check there for whatever your chosen solution is (and the relevant subsections for gtk or qt or so depending on the programs you are using)
