FVWM3 video

Instead of a screenshot, I made one video of my 24 extensions that shows the features and functions. Kazam app does both screencasts and screenshots. With OpenShot, the 10 min video editing. No sound is included.

Nice cast;-)
I like the sweet-home-3d app, didn't know it, thanks.

For graphic design and planning, SweetHome is awesome. Easy to use, accurate, texture quality, and ready-made 3D objects. There are good tutorial videos. Here is a sample that I made on a comparison of the actual street corner building.

What was missing, is to have one widescreen to work on. Instead of two monitors, FVWM's virtual desk does the job.

Yes, that looks very useful. I saw that by adding textures and furniture you can get a pretty amazing render that looks quite realistic.
I tried it already, imported and adding furniture and textures too, works fine for me.

I have one monitor using i3WM so I did put the 3d view and designer on different workspaces and noticed there is a little delay switching between them.
That may work better with FVWM, did not try it..

Re: FVWM3 video

Workspace switch is instant. To regulate smoothness of mouse scrolling between virtual pages, in FVWM there is a simple script (East, West..... MoveH and MoveV (horizontal and vertical).

~/.fvwm/7Modules/VDesk/mouseScroll.conf

EdgeCommand E FuncScrollMoveH 90p -5p
EdgeCommand W FuncScrollMoveH -100p 5p
EdgeCommand N FuncScrollMoveV -90p 5p
EdgeCommand S FuncScrollMoveV 90p -5p

Here it's not, from designer to 3d view is instant, the other way around has a delay of about 0.25Sec.
It's not disturbing but there, I think it's the hardware, the video card to be precise (Intel UHD on NUC)

To regulate smoothness of mouse scrolling between virtual pages, in FVWM there is a simple script (East, West..... MoveH and MoveV (horizontal and vertical).
...snip,,,

I remember this, though I can't recall the env. I worked with that used this, I think it was Enlightenment..

edit: So, I just installed FVWM, for now I used the mouseScroll.conf you pasted and a default config.
The effect I described(delay) is exactly the same. If I have some more time I will try and see if I can do anything about it but right now I blame the HW :-)
Still, I can live with it...

Moving around in the 3dview with FVWM is way snappier than it is in i3, nice! I will definitely keep it if only for working with sweethome3d.

Re: FVWM3 video

In the youtube video introduction, in the end, the virtual window movement looks a bit clumsy because of maximizing. Could not get resize to scroll over the screen edge or didn’t know if Fvwm can do it. Did a test on Fvwm1, there it was. A few days ago, I received the style:

Style * EdgeResizeDelay 300

Paste this line at the end of config. Restart, test it in VWin 3x2, click resize and drag a window over the screen age.
