I have an HP Mini 210-1100. I cannot configure the WiFi because I cannot turn on the hardware WiFi switch, which is activated by
Fn + f12
. I read the Rfkill caveat on the Wiki and ran
rfkill list
. The result was
hp-wifi: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard Blocked: yes.
I read the Kernel module page and tried
lsmod
and found hp-wmi, which is the module for the media keys on an HP. I ran modprobe hp_wmi and got no output, and my understanding is that this is the way to manually load kernel modules. Nevertheless, the keys do not function after doing so.
Does anyone have any direction they can point me?
Thank you.

Update: by adding hp_wmi.conf to /etc/modprobe.d/ my WiFi key now boots enabled, so the primary thing that I needed is fixed. However, holding Fn + f12 now turns off the WiFi switch and it cannot be turned back on until after a reboot. The mute and volume buttons also do not work. I am leaving the thread open in case anyone has any suggestions.

Another update: I must have misunderstood how the LEDs on the keyboard work. Using networkmanager I can turn the LED on and off with
nmcli r wifi off
and
nmcli r wifi on
