Two weeks ago after an update my gnome-terminal stopped working. It was glitchy, content of the window was transparent and there were strange patterns flashing in it. I downgraded it, but that didn't help (apparently it's a different package's bug). I thought this problem will be fixed soon, so I installed xfce4-terminal and have been using it ever since.
However, today I updated all packages again and gnome-terminal is still broken. Terminal is, I think, quite essential application and such a bug should be rather noticed, so maybe the problem is on my side and some configuration file is broken?

Create a new user and log in as that new user. If the problem is gone, there is a local config in your $HOME that is causing it. If the problem is still there, it's either a bug or a system-wide config that is broken.

In that case please alaborate on your display server (wayland or X11) and try the other one and in case of X11 being a/the broken one, please post your xorg log.

Ok,
I did as twelveeighty said and found that gnome-terminal works great. However,
when I changed theme to Numix (which I use) it broke just like it is broken on my
normal account.
As numix-gtk-theme is an AUR package, it turns out I haven't updated it for a
very long time. I updated it and re-logged in. However, this did not help. As
gnome-terminal is still broken I'm afraid its Numix's internal bug...
But, there is hope, because this package was last updated in November 2019 and
it's not up to date with github repository. I'll install git version and see how it works.

I tried github version. It doesn't work either.

That is a bug in numix. You should post a bugreport in their git repo.
