System Freezing at Boot while using Radeon RX 6700 XT

Hello,

My system freezes on boot. The only way to not have it freeze on boot is boot with kernel parameter "nomodeset".

If I boot the system without trying to start xorg it freezes at "Login: " and if I try to boot with xorg it freezes at "[ OK ] Reached target Graphical Interface. "

I believe the issue is with the graphics card driver because the system works with the kernel parameter "nomodeset". However,  I went through the set up for the AMDGPU driver, but cannot find any troubleshooting advice that fixes this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: System Freezing at Boot while using Radeon RX 6700 XT

I had the same problem.

At the very least you have you have to use "linux-firmware-git" (AUR): https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/linux-firmware-git/

More precisely: The RX 6700 XT needs the "/usr/lib/firmware/amdgpu/navy_flounder_*" files to work, which are currently not (yet) included in the base package.

Additionally you might get some graphic artifacts. This could be solved by using the "mesa-git" (AUR): https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/mesa-git
