Wine not displaying programs and games

Hello,
I tried to run steam games that dont work natively on linux with wine/proton, it did not work.
I found that the issue is most likely to be with wine itself. I cannot run any windows programs with wine,
after trying to create wine prefix I got these error messages:

wine: created the configuration directory '/home/waffelo/.defaultprefix'
0048:err:ole:StdMarshalImpl_MarshalInterface Failed to create ifstub, hr
0x80004002 0048:err:ole:CoMarshalInterface Failed to marshal the interface

0048:err:ole:apartment_get_local_server_stream Failed: 0x80004002

This is output of attempt to run a steam game:

[814540]Non-Steam Controller Configs Enabled: 1
Installing breakpad exception handler for appid(steam)/version(1616532526)
Installing breakpad exception handler for appid(steam)/version(1616532526)
GameAction [AppID 814540, ActionID 1] : LaunchApp changed task to ProcessingInstallScript with ""
esync: up and running.
wine: RLIMIT_NICE is <= 20, unable to use setpriority safely
Installing breakpad exception handler for appid(steam)/version(1616532526)

No games work. I was so desparate that I even reinstalled arch (yes, I am weak.)

Re: Wine not displaying programs and games

Yeah, I was having this exact issue. I searched for it and I got into this thread. But I think I might have found a solution to your problem, maybe.

export WINEARCH=win32
export WINEPREFIX=~/<This will create a new folder. I recommend something like wine32>
winecfg

Run this commands and you'll have a build of 32-bit Wine in your system. Try to run your games from the terminal. If I can recommend you something, is that you add the two first commands to your .bashrc or .zshrc, whatever shell you're using. But just if it works!

Good luck!

Re: Wine not displaying programs and games

Regarding the Steam Games you can always check ProtonDB to see how you can run the desired game. You'll find tweaks made by other users and troubleshooting as well. You can even search based on the distribution of your choice. Still regarding Steam, you shouldn't need wine to run their games, proton should be enough. Do you have all Steam dependencies including the 32 bit ones? I would suggest you to take a look once again in here.

Hope it was helpful.
