Hi,
today signal-desktop suddenly stoppend working. Error message shown in the shell is

In the end I deleted the directory ~/.config/Signal and went through the quite painful process of registrating via signal-cli again. Now I have lost all my contacts and the history of my chats, which I find quite unsatisfying. It seems that for some reason the migration of the database failed in sqlite and maybe I am just overlooking something. Am I expected (or is it possible) to safe my history somehow? I do not have a smartphone, I just want to stay in contact with some people who are mainly in contact with others via socialmedia. So I have no different device, where I could get a history/user list from.
On https://ctrl.alt.coop/en/post/signal-wi … martphone/ I found the following strange sentence:
You may want to run signal-cli as a user systemd service to prevent that the key material gets out of sync for signal-cli.
So is this maybe somehow related to my problem? Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thanks in advance,
Cheers Zmann

Yep - something has gone awry with signal. I got past the DB problem, but then I have a mobile device and was able to re-link. However, nothing in the UI at all. No contacts, no history, nada.
Sorry, I have no idea how to fix.

Hi Roken,
you had no idea how to fix, but at least now I know, that I'm not alone with this problem. So thank you very much for your confirmation.

Thanks, Scimmia, for the hint, must have missed that. Why do I get no result at all, when I search for signal-desktop in the bugtracker?

Most probable you took the wrong filter, signal-desktop is in [community]. So you have to "All projects" or "Community packages", and not "Arch Linux", which is the default, in the upper left of the bugtracker-page.

@Stefan Husmann, thank you for the hint. It's hard to search 'the right way', if the default settings look so reasonable. ![]()

Hello,
I had the same bug, and thanks to this thread I could find the way to temporary fixed it:
https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/69980 --> https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/69990
pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/gtk3-1\:3.24.27- .........fixed the issue for me
edit: bug URL
