Hi. I find that apps installed via `pacman` will display a missing icon on GNOME. But apps installed through Flatpak or intalled along with the OS installation process work fine.
I tried it twice to make it sure, but I don’t know what cause the problem.
#1 trial:
I downloaded the Arch Linux ISO (ver.1-April-2021) and installed the OS using the `archinstaller` Python script. When it ask me to choose a pre-programmed DE profile, I chose `gnome` (but later I found out it was actually `gnome-extra`);
I rebooted the system and it is in GNOME 40, all icons work fine. Then, I installed Tilix and Firefox via `pacman`, and found out icons were missing for these 2 newly installed apps;
I also tried installing apps via Flatpak, and the icons work fine.
#2 trial:
Because the `archinstaller` Python script is using `gnome-extra` for a GNOME set up, so I skipped the procedure for this time’s OS installation. And I ask the script to install `gnome`, `tilix` and `firefox` as additional packages when installing the OS;
I rebooted the system and enabled the `gdm` unit for `systemd`;
It is in GNOME 40, and again, all icons work fine, including the additional apps Tilix and Firefox;
I found the `gnome` package was missing GNOME Tweaks and GNOME Usage, so I installed them via `pacman`, and it comes with a missing icon;
Again, I tried installing apps via Flatpak, and those apps were fine displaying their icons.

Do anybody know what exactly caused the issue? Thanks.

Have you installed the package adwaita-icon-theme ?

Yes. The package is already installed within the `gnome` package group. And a re-installation did not fix the issue.
