[SOLVED] ArchLinux not seeing new SSD M.2

Hello guys. I have troubles with install archlinux on recently bought SSD M.2 (Samsung 980 MZ-V8V500BW) which is not detected on my PC (Ryzen 7 3700, Asrock B450M PRO4-F). I've updated BIOS to 2.70 version from official site but it didn't help too. What can i try else to fix that ?

Is the system seeing it? As in, is it listed anywhere when you go into the system firmware's settings?

Nope, however i've read somewhere that it may happen because there's no MBR or GPT partition

Re: [SOLVED] ArchLinux not seeing new SSD M.2

If it's not showing up in BIOS then it's a hardware issue - either the drive or MB. It doesn't matter if the drive is formatted or not. Just to check, there are 2 types of M.2 - PCIe and SATA. The PCIe type can work for both but the SATA can only work with SATA. Have you checked which type your MB support and that you have the right type?

EDIT: I checked the specs and you do have the right drive. There are 2 locations in your MB for M.2. One is for PCIe and one is for SATA. Check if the drive is installed in the PCIe slot.

It's in the upper Ultra M.2 slot (also my videocard in the lower slot PCIE slot if it may be an issue). Also i've tried installing it in the lower M.2 slot and had no success as well

Re: [SOLVED] ArchLinux not seeing new SSD M.2

The drive could be faulty if it is not recognized in either slot.

I'm gonna check the drive tomorrow in the shop where i bought it, though i guess there's an issue with motherboard because the ssd is quite new (it's released near a month ago)

Yes have them check both drive and MB. At any rate, Samsung has 5 year warranty on those drives.

I've exchanged my Samsung 980 500 GB for Samsung EVO 970 (same capacity), which support is declared on the Asrock site but it isn't detected too (neither in BIOS nor in archlinux installer), it looks for me as MB issue

Probably that was my bad - when i've disassembled my PC and put it together again (but without old cooler) it began working. Maybe my power supply wasn't enough (650W but it's four years old and could regress)

Edit your first post and add [SOLVED] to the title.
