Good day all,
I'm trying to wrap my head around this. I've just reinstalled Arch/Plasma onto my system after ditching dual booting with windows completely. I am slowly piecing things back together and have all my internal storage drives unmounted at the moment.
I started with my 1TB SSD, that used to have games on, which is now blank. I have re-partitioned the drive and put file system ext4 on it.
On mounting it (to /drives/f), I noticed that available space was about 50GB lower than expected for a blank drive. On an old post, it recommended to use "xdiskusage" and that reveals that 46.59GB is taken up by inodes.
As far as I know, these reference directories and files on the drive, but what I have an issue with is the drive is blank, so surely it should be zero or nearly so. Things get more weirder if I run "df -ih" in terminal and the drive reports 59M on Inodes with IUsed=14.
So I'm currently at a loss, who to believe? - A blank 750GB spin drive that's also installed before reinstall exhibited this same sort or difference - that drive did have a windows install backup on it, but was showing about 40GB less.
Is their anyway I can just dump whats on there?
Thanks
Pete

You sir are the man! - Thankyou very much - I was going around the twist trying to figure out where all this space had gone - I learn something new everyday ![]()
