Re: Wireless Keyboard/Optical Mouse Combo Recommendations?

My shit attaches with some cord thingie.  Since I tend not to go jogging while using my mouse or keyboard, it works out for me.

i've got the wireless version of that, and
http://www.microsoft.com/products/info/ … 203f357698
a mutated version of that. it's coloured entirely differently with a different texture too.

keyboard is a logitech one, though I dislike it as it doesnt feel very solid, the keys are kinda rattly. I'll look into getting a more solid feelin keyboard one of these days.

if you're lookin wireless, take a good look around. I prefer MS' offerings as they use AA batteries, whereas logitechs - or at least my friend's logitech is rechargable. I've only had to replace my batteries twice in about a year, whereas his is on the charger at least one night a week as it doesnt actually turn off.

Re: Wireless Keyboard/Optical Mouse Combo Recommendations?

i used to have a wireless logitech mouse. it started leaking battery acid for no reason at all. it worked great for a couple of months and then one day it didn't work anymore. the same happened for my brother's wireless set. changing the batteries didn't do anything.

Re: Wireless Keyboard/Optical Mouse Combo Recommendations?

Hmmm - I was about to buy an MS optical desktop 1000, which is pretty low-end, but then I have read it can really suck for games.  A bit sucky is ok but really sucky I dunno.  Anyone know more about it?

Re: Wireless Keyboard/Optical Mouse Combo Recommendations?

I have one of the high-end logitech setups from a few years back (over $100 USD) but I do notice that while using the keyboard, mouse movements become choppy. Both are connected via PS/2 connectors and I haven't tried using USB with this particular setup. I do notice better performance with evdev as opposed to the kbd and mouse drivers in Xorg.

Re: Wireless Keyboard/Optical Mouse Combo Recommendations?

I've been quite satisfied with a Logitech LX700. The good:
- the keyboard has many extra keys that can be configured with xbindkeys or similar tools (you have to map some of the scancodes to keycodes first though, for example as shown here)
- the mouse can be charged on the base station (you can replace the included batteries with new rechargeable AA NiMHs)
- back/forward buttons on the mouse work quite easily, and Firefox supports them natively (on a related note, has anyone been able to get them to work in Konqueror without imwheel?)
- it's not that expensive, and Logitech gives a 5-year guarantee

now for the bad:
- I haven't been able get the tilt wheel to work
- Logitech's Linux support is nonexistent, so you'll get no help from them... although I suppose MS isn't any better wink

Overall, it has suited me quite well. I really don't do much gaming, but haven't had any issues with ET or Quake 4.

Re: Wireless Keyboard/Optical Mouse Combo Recommendations?

using a microsoft wireless comfort keyboard 1.0 and wireless optical mouse 2.0.  I'm very close to getting the "extra" multimedia keys to work.  anyway, its a good combo.  wink
