Everytime i try to extract a rar package in Gnome Files, File-roller throws an error with a message of 'parsing filters is unsupported'. After searching my issue it seems like an easy fix and i had to install the unrar package. So i did and the issue remains except now i can unrar without issues through the terminal using 'unrar x file.rar'. Tried a simple reboot but file-roller still throwing errors. After that i removed the file-roller package and installed the file-roller-git AUR package but still no luck.
I would like to add unrar support in Gnome-files but i'm running out of ideas and i'm probably overseeing something really simple over here. What i'm working with:
GNOME 40.1
Files 40.1
File-roller 3.40.0
Unrar 6.01

For what it is worth, some of your files are not up to date. A full upgrade woudl not hurt.

Strange Pacman isn't offering anything new.

The error message is coming from libarchive. unrar is not being use by file-roller in preference to libarchive for some reason.

I think there is something wrong with the right click "extract here" functionality in Nautilus/Files. If i manually open a rar in Archive Manager/File-Roller (what's up with the weird Gnome double naming convention?) and extract it that way then it does work.
