Steam can't connect to Xbox One Controller

Hi,
Recently (roughly 2 months ago), I get this weird issue with Steam and my Xbox One Controller - sometimes it connects, and sometimes it doesn't. Today is such a day where my Controller doesn't bother to connect with Steam (It won't show up in Steam).

I tried to connect via Bluetooth and wire, but the result is the same. For the sake of keeping it simple for troubleshooting, I focus on the wired connection.

Steam gives me the following log in the commandline:

Found this thread because i have exactly the same issue.
it seems to be very steam specific as the controller work on other non-steam software such as the web browser.
have you found a fix ?
