Hi guys, I'm in serious need of help here. I did a system update yesterday and now I can't get my Xorg to start. It crashes out with the following:

Downgrade to 460xx, https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=265563

Thank you @seth. That worked. For those who run into the same problem and possibly issues installing the driver itself. I downloaded the driver directly from the Nvidia site and used 460.67 drivers. This initially wouldn't install showing an internal error with no reason. The fix was to install with the --no-install-libglvnd flag.
sudo ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-460.67.run --no-install-libglvndReboot, run, gold!

That's a terrible idea. The correct solution is to downgrade the packages using the Arch repos.

Hi @Slithery, can you give an example of how to do that? I tried that before going down this rabbit hole initially by modifying the mirrorlist to lock in a specific date previous to the update. However, it didn't change the outcome somehow. I still ended up with the same 0x0 error. Is there a better way to do this? Thanks.
Just to elaborate, after setting the mirrorlist to an archive date:
Server = https://archive.archlinux.org/repos/2021/03/01/$repo/os/$archThen running a full update:
sudo pacman -SyyuuLast edited by godlikemouse (2021-05-13 17:55:47)

Did you effectively downgrade to the older kernel and nvidia driver?
Anyway, see https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 6#p1968236
You want the headers for your kernel(s) (current ones from the core repo) and the 460 nvidia-dkms and nvidia-utils (maybe lib32-nvidia-utils of the same version) packages from ALA.
Ensure to build the kernel module, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Dynami … le_Support
This allows you to (for now) keep the system up to date on the older nvidia driver until nvidia releases a new version that hopefully addresses those issues.

Hi @seth, thanks for the response.
When I changed the mirrorlist to lock in an older repo, then ran the full pacman -Syyuu it changed all packages including headers, kernel, etc. to match. I didn't however change the kernel to match just the downgrade of the nvidia installer package. I'll give that a try. Thanks again.
