Suspend-to-Disk with Beyond kernel.

I just installed the beyond kernel with pacman.

$ sudo pacman -S kernel26beyond

I did so because I want to suspend-to-disk on my laptop when I am at university. However after numerous attempts at hibernating, I still couldnt get it going. Is there an issue with the suspend-2-swap patch in the 2.6.17-beyond kernel?

Anyone else have this issue? If it is then I might just build a custom no-sources/emission-sources kernel with ABS to get suspend to work.

thanks

EDIT: I am using my hibernate.conf from my last gentoo install. I have removed what little gentoo specific stuff that was in there. I thought I could just swap it in place of the stock hibernate.conf since mine is already configured for my laptop (T41p).

Since the latest update to the beyond kernel I have been having trouble with it too, and the occasional kernel panic while starting up, the stock kernel has suspend options in it though, I only use the beyond for the centrino patch

I think this weekend I will read up on creating AUR package and maybe submit one of my fav kernels from gentoo over to AUR.

Let me know what you think.

if you say, ported the gentoo sources over, I would be very interested, I love messing with the kernel!

nah. Gentoo sources is pretty stock with some minor patches.
If anything I want to do a kernel with a lot of patches and with whom I have direct contact with.

Re: Suspend-to-Disk with Beyond kernel.

I couldn't get 2.6.17-beyond-2.1 to hibernate - I got a kernel panic every time. So, as of now I'm using 2.6.17-beyond1.1.

Re: Suspend-to-Disk with Beyond kernel.

Update.

The suspend2 patch seems to be working in beyond2.1. I just updated with pacman and found that my hibernate scripts were out of date. With the new scripts I can finally start the hibernate. Now to configure it to hibernate properly..

Re: Suspend-to-Disk with Beyond kernel.

I just configured suspend2 yesterday and it wouldn't work for beyond with me, too. However, if you don't need the beyond features kernel26suspend2 works just fine.

They say if you reverse play a Windows CD you can hear satanic verses... But wanna know what's even worse? If you forward play it, it's gonna install Windows on your system!
