Is there a way to install older versions of proprietary nvidia drivers

The newest nvidia driver (465) is giving me too many problems. Is there a way to install an older version of it (450)?

Re: Is there a way to install older versions of proprietary nvidia drivers

You may temporarily downgrade the package from pacman cache or install an older version from Arch Linux Archive. That is, however, a partial upgrade and is not supported: if you do so, you are on your own and can’t expect help from the official support channels.

That can only work as a temporary solution too, because kernel upgrades may at some point lead to the module malfunctioning. Therefore an idea much better than avoiding updates is to seek help in solving the issues.

@mpan, the 465 driver has quite some bugs, they're not work-around-able or fixable.

@Breather
Install the older version of the dkms driver, eg. nvidia-dkms-450.whatever with the matching {lib32-}nvidia-utils package from the archive.
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 6#p1968236

This will allow you to keep the kernel updated. You'll need the header package for your kernel as well, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Dynami … le_Support

Downgrading "just" the kernel (to match the older nvidia kernel module and utils) is only a minor issue wrt. to partial upgrades since the kernel is rather self-contained. The downside is however that you're stuck w/ an old kernel which could suffer from other (incl. security) bugs.
