Can't upgrade system?

hey guys!
so, i've been having problems with pacman for a while.
i am still able to install programs, but everytime i try running sudo pacman -Syu, i get this error:
sudo pacman -Syu

You mean : create an empty file with the touch command? That would be a more helpful tip for a newly registered user of the forums.

This is Arch, which targets users that already had Linux experience. If they don't know what touch is, they should be able to figure it out quickly.
