asrock b460m pro4 sound issues

g'day
i decided to upgrade hardware and now there is this i7-10700 with Asrock B460m pro4 board, and the sound is missing.
the chip detected is Realtek ALCS1200A.
There is only one sound card - the builtin ; all alsamixer controls are fine.
i've disabled the HDMI as i am only using 2 speakers, but with it was no difference.
it does "pop" when playing something, then only some hissing and eventualy some whoooping sound and that's it. And the volume of that goes lower each time.
So it's not connection/jacks but something else.
kernel was 5.11, now is 5.12.6 from last week, all the same.
Anyone having similar issue?

What's the output of

amixer -c0 #Or whatever the correct card index according to aplay -l
#If using pipewire/pulse
pactl list-cards
pactl list-sinks
pactl list-sink-inputs

no pulse, only alsa, so:

more info: have not tried installing windows, tried some knoppix 9, all the same.

request: please, if someone has such board, confirm here that sound works (or not?)
