Outdated extra.db in an official mirror

Hello!
It appears that the official mirror http://mirrors.evowise.com/archlinux/extra/os/x86_64/ has an outdated extra.db file.
I think the nvidia package should be synchronised with the kernel (so nvidia-465.31-6 as of right now), but the extra.db file in the mirror has nvidia-465.31-5 description.
I'm not sure what to do with this issue.

Re: Outdated extra.db in an official mirror

You have to switch the mirror to something that is more actively maintained. The mirrorlist does by plain existence not guarantee that any given mirror is up to date. It is occasionally cleaned up for abandoned/hopelessly outdated ones, but it is up to you to identify whether you are on a slow mirror and adjust that for a properly syncing one you can use tools like reflector and/or https://archlinux.org/mirrors/status/ for helping you here, you want successfully syncing mirrors with a low delay time and a low score. Note that while evowise is considered a successfully syncing mirror, it has a delay of 30 hours for any given change.

Re: Outdated extra.db in an official mirror

What I had in mind is that the .tar.zst file available on the mirror is not matching the version in the extra.db file, whereas other packages seem to be correctly defined, resulting in the graphical driver and kernel being out of sync after a system update. Is that a normal mirror behaviour?

As of right now, http://mirrors.evowise.com/archlinux/ex … 4/extra.db lists nvidia-465.31-6 as available, which correctly corresponds to the available pkg.tar.zst file.

And according to the last modification date header, the extra.db on that server last changed almost 12 hours ago (so ~5 hours before this thread started).

Re: Outdated extra.db in an official mirror

The modification date header was correct, as the extra.db was indeed updated for other packages. I guess now there's no way to prove it was otherwise smile The repository is fine now, although as V1del suggested I've switched to using more quickly updated mirrors.

Re: Outdated extra.db in an official mirror

My point was the modification header shows that the database had not changed and it was currently in a functional state.  So not only is it not possible to prove it was otherwise, there is proof it was not otherwise.  I have no doubt you experienced an error, but you didn't provide diagnostic output but rather a suspected explanation which turned out to be incorrect.
