[SOLVED] Xorg no longer runs with root rights - causes problems

Hello,
Since about April, my KDE Plasma has been causing problems.
I looked at the Xorg.0.log, which can now be found under ./local, and saw the following warnings.

[ 536.596] (WW) Failed to open protocol names file lib/xorg/protocol.txt
[ 536.647] xf86EnableIOPorts: failed to set IOPL for I/O (Operation not permitted)
[ 536.647] (WW) VGA arbiter: cannot open kernel arbiter, no multi-card support

[ 536.808] (WW) NVIDIA: '/var/run/nvidia-xdriver-bc9907a7' Permission denied

Here is the whole log

So I executed

sudo startx

and it ran fine again, even the kde loading screen appeared again. But I will be logged in as root. I reinstalled xorg-server and saw following message:

>>> xorg-server has now the ability to run without root rights with
the help of systemd-logind. xserver will fail to run if not launched
from the same virtual terminal as was used to log in.
Without root rights, log files will be in ~/.local/share/xorg/ directory.

Old behavior can be restored through Xorg.wrap config file.
See Xorg.wrap man page (man xorg.wrap).

I created an /etc/X11/Xwrapper.config with

needs_root_rights = yes

but nothing changed.

I'm using Ly as display manager, so how can I reenable the old behaviour?

Regards

Re: [SOLVED] Xorg no longer runs with root rights - causes problems

Check the permissions on  /usr/lib/Xorg.wrap (stat /usr/lib/Xorg.wrap) the correct permissions are 4755

# chmod 4755 /usr/lib/Xorg.wrap

Thanks, that fixed it.

Kind regards
