Package upgrade creates empty packages

After a recent upgrade (specific entry from pacman.log)

For all packages in the above specific upgrade: (1) pacman -Ql returned empty file lists

, and (3) the pgp signature of the cached package was "corrupted" (pacman requested to delete said cached package. I did not save the output unfortunately). Reinstalling said packages returns a conflicting files error. For guile, xmonad, xmonad-contrib, and xmonad-utils, I had to manually remove associated files to reinstall.

I have two questions: how might I investigate why (1)-(3) happened? For reinstalling the packages, do I have to remove all associated empty files manually? If doing so with --overwrite, do I have to specify the full path of every specific empty file? Thank you for any clarification you can provide!

I’ve got the same problem (for 1 and 2, all my cached packages were valid, no PGP check problem for me); I solved it by reinstalling everything with the following command, from this wiki page:

pacman -Qqn | pacman -S --overwrite="*" -

I don’t know if it’s the good way to solve this problem, but it worked as intended for me.
