Hello,
I'm having a wierd problem. I can't seem to record anything from the Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 card. If i unmute the mic/line in channels in the gnome sound mixer, i can hear the sound coming through my speakers, but i can't record anything from those channels. And yes, i have made sure that the channel is set for recording.

it doesn't work I both audacity and jokosher. I first tried it in jokosher, since i'm helping develop it, so i thought it was a jokosher thing. Then i fired up audacity and it didn't work in there either (even after reselecting the mic input).

does audacity complain bout sound device ?(cant remember the exact error message but it does require oss to create /dev/dsp)
in audacity click on a box next to the microphone icon with a slider
you should get a menu with
Vol
Line
Mic
CD
Line1
etc...
be sure to pick the correct input
then hit record it wont play a sound till its recording
adjust the level on the slider with micrphone icon described above
it may sound a bit distorted while recording but check the playback
on mine it sounds good on playback but while recording it doesnt sound that great
