[SOLVED] ERROR: Device not found.

I've been trying to install arch for 2 days now and every time I do it i get this message:

ERROR: device 'X' not found. Skipping fsck.
mount: /new_root: can't find X.
You are now being dropped into an emergency shell.
SH: can't access tty; job control turned off

I've used Debian for about a year but I'm still new to arch...

Any ideas?

Re: [SOLVED] ERROR: Device not found.

What is "X" exactly? You will want to make sure to use UUIDs for identifying your disks/root partition in all your bootloader and fstab configs.

Currently it's: UUID=a66ebe2b-ad5d-4c5b-955e-973fe09bd43b

Re: [SOLVED] ERROR: Device not found.

One other thing that can happen here is if your UEFI/BIOS configures the disk for RAID mode instead of AHCI you either want to change that setting or add the vmd module to your mkinitcpio, see the following earlier thread: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 4#p1977204
