Start XFCE from console? No ConsoleKit?

My new Arch installations (desktop PC and laptop) both boot to a text console, and I use "startx" to run XFCE (via the line "exec startxfce4" in ~/.xinitrc), as described in the XFCE:Starting wiki section.

However, the XFCE documentation says that, "Xfce Desktop requires an active ConsoleKit session... In case you use a desktop manager, the DM will take care of that. For console starts this is a bit different..."

The Arch wiki says that ConsoleKit is no longer maintained, and that Arch only has official support for logind and systemd.  And that ConsoleKit can be replaced with systemd-logind by removing references to ck-launch-session from .xinitrc (which I hadn't added anyway).

Since I use systemd and have confirmed that I have a valid local session in X, can I assume that it's fine to continue booting to the console and using "startx" to start XFCE?  Or is this not recommended?

Thanks :-)

That consolekit text is from 2012. It is outdated. You don't need consolekit to run modern xfce on Arch.
